You Are Not A Mistake

In an interview with a TV company, a lady spoke about how she was one of five girls born into an Arab family. She explained that in her culture, it was fine to have one or two girls, but having five girls wasn’t great for her family. Although her parents loved her, they really wanted a boy and spoke about how they wished they had a boy. She felt like she was unwanted all her life until she heard someone speak from the Bible about how she had value. Now she is a woman who knows she has value and is loved.

The truth is that if we feel that we’re an accident or a mistake, then we can feel worthless. But this isn’t true. You are not worthless, you are not a mistake.

Whatever you feel like today, this assembly is about the fact that you are not a mistake. You are not an accident, even if you have been told that. Your parents or whoever looks after you may have said that but as a Christian I believe there is a truth that is greater than what people think and that truth is what God says.

As a Christian I believe God says we all have great worth in who we are. You don’t need to be anyone else and you don’t need to compare yourself with anyone else. You have total value in who you are. You are wanted, you are valuable, you are worthwhile and you are unique.

Your Body

According to thoughtco (link here and from August 2018), the body would be worth around just $5.00 (US dollars) if the elements of the body were purchased.

But of course you are so much more than chemical elements – you have a soul, a brain, emotions, a mind and a spiritual side too. You’re worth a lot more than 5 bucks!

You may want to preface this video by saying this is what one Christian has said about the fact that we are not a mistake. You may or may not agree with his viewpoint but the overall sentiment is that we were created by a loving God. No matter what you think or anyone says, you are not an accident and are incredibly valued and valuable.

The inventor of Tesla, Elon Musk is someone who is passionate about the products he makes. Here are some of the things that he has said as quoted on (link here, accessed January 2019):

“When something is important enough, you do it even if the odds are not in your favor.”

“The first step is to establish that something is possible; then probability will occur.”

“I think it is possible for ordinary people to choose to be extraordinary.”

“I could either watch it happen or be a part of it.”

You see, Elon Musk is passionate about what he does and what he makes. He takes time and energy to create what needs to be created and to make it right.

You Are Not A Mistake!

Things are worth what someone would pay.

You are worth way more than $5.00.

You are worth everything and as a Christian, I believe God gave everything for you.

As a Christian, I believe that God created you, loves you, has made you unique and for a purpose. You are not an accident. If Elon Musk can put together the Tesla with his team and do all the amazing things he has done, how much more do you think God who created you cares about you. You are much more important than an electric car or a recyclable product. And you have a lot more potential!

The world is full of ideas, theories, beliefs and systems. But as a Christian I believe that it’s only what God says that makes sense. Only with God can you find identity, purpose, meaning and the answers to life.

If you don’t believe in God, then know this – you were designed with a purpose and that purpose is to do good. Don’t spend your life doing things that won’t last and that don’t help others. Do good and be good news to people around you.
