With the faith and the innocence and charm of a little child
Not wise to the ways of the world and not defiled
Uncorrupted inside, with brightly shining eyes,
She up at first light, at sunrise, to hear the cries
Of screaming and shouting, a little look outside
To see her parents fighting, se got tears in her eyes
‘Was it something I said, I musta done wrong’, she writes in her book, an unhappy song
Goes downstairs to find and feel an uneasy clam
Like when a storm is brewing, she got sweat in her palms
Her mum and her dad standing in different rooms
She wonders what it means, feels like she’s marooned
Between 2 desert islands but not knowing where to turn
She feels their anger burn, but it’s hard for her to learn
That she’s the innocent party, caught in between
The bitterness and the pain of her parent’s broken dreams
She feels the pain deep down but doesn’t show or frown
Like the one written on the faces of her parent’s furrowed brows
Un-daunted she asks her dad if he wants to go play
But he pushes her aside, ‘I’m going out, I’m going away’
Turning to her mom for the comfort that she needs
Her mum jus screams abuse at him, ‘Go rot with the weeds’
Standing there alone, she doesn’t understand
What the future holds, knowing she’s lost her old man
The years go by and she feels bitter and blue
Some people try to help her asking, Yo wassup wit you?’
But she brushes them aside with anger in her eyes
That represents the feelings of a heart that feels sliced
She doesn’t let it show, don’t want people to know
The bitterness is spreading, she feels like she might blow
At night she lies in bed and fights back the tears
Tryin ta forget the past, those unhappy years

I need to find a way, way through my life today
I need to find the truth, won’t someone help me through       (x2)

She hasn’t seen her dad since that fateful day
When he went away and left her to play
All alone, the pain, she can’t explain, but refrains from letting it out
Scared to voice her inner doubts
She longs to find love but doesn’t know where
Beware of all strangers, she doesn’t seem to care
But deep in her heart, she cryin out for love
Someone to hold her, tries to find it in the clubs
In the pubs and the bars, even in the grocery store
At work and at play but can’t take it no more
That feeling of emptiness, the bitterness is growing
Increasingly showing and knowing she’s over-blowing
Where can she go? Who’ll lend a hand?
For her to stand, find her father, hold her hand
Can’t seem to forgive, although she wants to live
Can’t seem to let go, let her true feeling’s show..

I need to find a way, way through my life today
I need to find the truth, won’t someone help me through     (x2)

Goes to her friend’s wedding, putting on a brave face
Sees all the happy smiles of the people in that place
Hears the reverend talk about love and of peace
Can’t stand mo more, needs release, so quickly flees
And sits outside the church, she cryin out her eyes
The emotion’s overflowing, even she feeling surprised
Releasing all the hurt, frustration that’s deep down
Her heart is burning up, feeling uncontrollable now
Her world flashes before her, the euphoria and stuff destroyin her
She knows she’s not to blame, but the pain, hard to maintain
And be strong on the outside, when inside she’s burning up
Fed up of being messed up, she wants to re-take some control
Now she on a roll, emotion’s on parole, hurt rising from her soul
She feelin alone down to her bones but determined to go on
Move on, get up, stand tall, be strong, see right from wrong
Slowly she regains herself and stares into the air
She prayin for a miracle, asking God if he’s really there
Her prayer is a voice of hope of divine care
As she buries her head in her hands, feels someone standing there
Putting arms on her shoulders, whispering gently in her ear
Hears the voice sayin, ‘Don’t fear I’ve heard your tear..
.. welcome home my child, your father in heaven is near..
.. you’ve shed your tear, your heart is clear..
.. now I the Lord your God am here.’

I needed to find a way, way through my life today
I needed to find the truth, Jesus, you helped me through     (x2)

The Girl – a poem

There she stood radiating, the one perfect girl
Her presence enough to make wordplay unfurl
The smell of her beauty, her intimate ways
The touch of her fingers, resounded heatwaves
Her hair was just perfect and fit for a Queen
Smoother than silk – long, scented and clean
One look of those eyes, so sweet, could melt ice
So special and pure, her love-sent delights
Patiently waiting, to see how God guided
Would they be together, two hearts be united
Sharing in memories, and working as one
Supporting and laughing, uniting in love
Texts and emails, the joy of the chase
The shared hidden secrets, the smile on her face
The ups and the downs, would this be the bride
The one true love standing with arms open wide

But love’s never easy, never a straight road
The path’s often rocky, you trip and don’t know
If this love’s forever, will you both be true
If you feel the same as each other all through
Will hearts entwine, will two become one
Will God bring together, or will you be undone
The hope of a lifetime, to find and to hold
Is never so easy, keep the fire from the cold
Never take for granted, but make a clear choice
Speak from your heart, true emotions, one voice
One day she was gone, went out of the life
Forever or temporary, will she be the wife?
The pain was quite physical, emotional, so hard
He cried out to heaven, and called out to God
See, if it’s God’s will, then things will work out
Trust God, put God first, he won’t fail you, no doubt

Inner Struggles

Don’t want to feel alone, a stone unturned, I roam
Through places unknown and I groan
Cos I don’t have a home, not one that’s my own
And it’s hurting my soul, sometimes I’d rather not live
This pain inside is getting harder, I’d rather
Not feel like this but it seems I’m going further away from my Father
And I know it’s not true cos he’s there when things are getting darker
So I need God’s grace..

But still it hurts like an ache, not a fake, something hard to shake
Like a snake, it slithers and delivers, like flowing rivers & it’s hard to take
Not alone in this world, yet I feel that still something’s missing
Incomplete, not sweet and I wanna eat from the table of the Spirit
Got Jesus inside but I ride in 2 directions at once
And I can’t seem to get that peace to release..

So where do I go to show that I know that God sows and grows
True life inside, defines my time, inspires my rhyme
And releases my mind from the dark side
The battle rages on, so through song I wanna share my soul,
Let lyrics flow, speak my heart, give up control
To the saviour, who shows the path and never wavers, shows no favour
Gives time flava so that we can savour true life..

I can’t seem to break free, shake off the chains, in my mind or in my heart
Can’t seem to start, to see the way forward, which way to go, though I know
That God is directing and sitting alongside, it’s hard to decide
And it hurts inside, like a ride that defies all logic and reason..
Must be silly season, where I feel like I’m freezing
Left out in the cold and I’m all alone..
I cry out to God to show that he knows but still it’s so slow
That I want to explode, cos I want to get out there and see God in power
But right now I feel like an under-fed flower,
All weak as I seek to inherit like the meek

My God don’t ignore me, I’ll keep moving forward
Won’t let evil destroy me or toy with me
Cos I’ve got God’s glory before me and know God is for me

I’m’a spit a flow about life, that’s right, lock down to my words and keep it down rock tight
Too much strife in this life, people doing what they like,
So it’s time to make a change, gotta fight for what’s right
Too many children crying, too many mothers sighing
Too many people dying cos we really ain’t trying
To set the world straight, it’s not too late, to spread peace & relate, not dissipate hate
Make a difference dawg, but you too busy wit your life
Time to jacknife, turn over, re-learn and get it right
From your creed of selfish greed you feed n breed, but see, believe, it’s like a disease
What goes around comes around so man, you better change
Or the bling that you’re stealin gonna turn into your chains
See many needy folks, they need what you got, but you just keep takin, bro, it’s gotta stop
Too many brothers going down, not enough good people in this town
Streets ruled by the sound, of guns n violence, people scared n staying silent
Opportunities gone, priorities wrong
When you down on the streets and you got zip to eat, can’t sleep and your body is weak
Don’t know what it is that you seek, so awake from your sleep and speak out
So much need in this nation, I say no hesitation, we need a restoration, God’s motivation
Cos for too many lives it’s a struggle to get by, a fight morning to night, their light not burning bright
Walkin the streets I feel pain and confusion, see hurt in people’s eyes, they happiness an illusion
The selfishness we thought would bring us all joy
Just brings a heavy weight as we buy another toy

Jesus is the answer (who?)
Jesus Christ
Jesus is the answer (how?)
You gotta give him your life

Gotta re-prioritise and change our lives, faces with tears long since gone dry
Cos we ignore people’s pain, laugh at they shame, but refrain, cos y’all could be the same
See need is all around, on the ground and deep inside,
People hide, people lie, people try and hide their eyes
But look behind the retina, cos man they’re a mess in their
Lives lived down there only getting what’s not fair
Breakbeats and words, new patterns not yet heard
Can’t tame the selfish urge or feed the human herds
Do we deserve what we serve or are our verbs like herbs
Seasoning with grace, taste filling the place
So I’m’a hit up with crunk beats,
Feet-shaking, bass quaking, hope-filled lyricism
Spittin flows with witticism, re-inventing with precision
Bringing down the inner prisons
We tearing one another down, this nations’ lost its crown
Of truth and justice, honesty and all that’s sound
What once was found has been lost and tossed aside
Cos of pride, loveless, Godless mess deep down inside
We die and cry, we try to fly away from all the shame
But things can’t stay the same so lay down your pain, regain,
The love for one another, caring, sharing for your brother
Reach up wit hands held high
Just cos you think your rhymes are bringing rap justice
It just ain’t enough to say this and not live this
Your lives ain’t reflected in the words that you say, but how fair you play, your actions day to day
I think your lives need dustin, cos all your words are rustin
And I ain’t trustin, what is lusting to go busting
Time to strike for what’s right, keep tight and let your light
Burn bright and radiate, time to love not hate

Jesus is the answer (who?)
Jesus Christ
Jesus is the answer (how?)
You gotta give him your life

Life’s Lonely Single Journey

As I travel along this cold road I’m finding
That at times I’m so lonely, like I’m silently gliding
Across life’s short timeline, it’s as if I’ve been hidden
Invisibly walking, like my presence forbidden
I know that God’s there, but through silence, he deafens
The words from his Word bring me comfort which lessen
The pain of the mystery of life unattached
Frozen and locked out, love’s potential un-hatched
I search after God, and he comforts my heart
As I pour out my soul of a life lived apart
I’m loving my God, my neighbour, upwards reaching
But humanly speaking, it’s that one girl I’m seeking
God opens doors like a flower greets the sun
But somehow it’s empty when enjoyed by just one
The words from God’s throne, not good being alone
But Christ has atoned, now my heart is his home
Summer months come, your eyes pop out your head
Looking down, looking up, prohibited view straight ahead
They call it window-shopping, but it’s always disheartening
Disempowered from romance, and love’s fine enchantment
But one thing I’ll say, is that I truly feel the pain
I can explain the hard feelings of the singleton game
The lonely nights you kick back and sit alone with food
No-one there to share your dreams, to orchestrate the brood
Fleeting glances in the mall, that could mean something more
But quickly moving on, to meet those eyes no more
The pain inside so real, gut-wrenching disappointment
No medicine can cure, no pill, no cream, no ointment
It’s a paradox, that you sometimes like being single
As the freedom that it grants can mean flying like an eagle
Soaring over the problems of relationships and marriage
But deep inside the feeling grows that without you just can’t manage
So many ladies, so many smells, the scent of female cells
The joy of God’s creation, only held back by one limitation
There’s one thing that seems missing, a thing that’s more than kissing
It’s an intimate relationship with my girl – that’s my admission
Seeking first God’s kingdom, his will, his righteousness
Don’t want no covetousness, delight in Christ as he’s the best
My comforter, my rescuer, the way the truth the life
Strife inevitable, but through Christ I’ll let my light
Burn brightly in the darkest place, in God my hope is found
Even when the emptiness is the only soul-filled sound
Confused, bemused and bruised, the blues of searching hearts
But with Jesus I can’t lose, I cruise, I’m set apart
Emotional turbulence, through life’s storms, doors seem to close
But God-filled opulence, in the thorns there is a rose
My hope is found in Christ-alone, my God he is my Rock
But oh my Lord, with all my heart, please open up the lock..

You think your life’s sorted but you got miles to go
All your issues buried but bundled up just like the snow
People claiming to have answers but they don’t get you anywhere
I’m aware that deep down, fear is rising and you’re scared
Just open your eyes to the problems – and then sound off
It’s not like a dirty car, you can’t just wash it off
Sickness, diseases, stress and perilous times
Your motives reflected by dollars and dimes
Won’t find satisfaction in a simple dollar bill
So you grab for rising portions, take more than just your fill
It’s never complete, self-perpetuating circles
Of monetary greed, brings chills like on icicles
You’re travelling greater distances but know less folks
Like a damaged bike wheel, you’re removing all the spokes
Taking and grabbing, your honesty always questioned
But driving for your goal, it’s verging on obsession
Repressing deepest needs by superficial coatings
While physically inbalanced and growing ever bloated
Conceited and angry, your life is one long show
Ignoring all the issue, and faking it like a panto
Covering up with make-up, relationships just break up
But never will you let up, creating emotional craters
Energies invested, incorrectly indigested
Spending all your nest egg, legacies molested
Endless problems follow your trail of compulsive destruction
Infrastructure of society crumbling, fatally punctured
But you don’t wanna know, you can’t even see
Corruption, vice, on show, a sickening entity
You’re giving in more and more to all that’s broken, screwed up
The darkness covers your minds, but still you don’t hold back
No boundary you won’t cross, no actions you won’t take
No people you won’t crush, no attitude you won’t fake
Declare intent so proudly, boasting ever loudly
So full of selfishness, your inside is ever cloudy
Can’t you feel the oppression that disturbs your inner judgement
You’re swimming through the mud. It’s sewage and you’re drowning

This world needs Jesus

I was patiently waiting for my God to show his face
Replace the pains of emptiness, release me to my place
His grace, is what I needed, in His Spirit I am sealed
By faith I knew he’d move me on, his Word would be revealed

So I entered to the throne of grace, the Cross my place of prayer
My cares I cast on the Lord my God, his Word says that he’s there
I shared, my heart, my faith, my mind, my deepest darkest needs
For God provides, he shapes and guides, I know that God he sees

The in between place, amidst the past and God’s new dawn
His spwan, a child of God, between a rock and hard place, torn
For sure, I knew that God was there, but where, sometimes unsure
His faithfulness, I trusted him, and rested, still and pure

I kept within my heart and kept to mind his Word so holy
Slowly God revealed some things that needed his controlling
So lowly, in humility I bowed and let him discipline
God my antidote, purifying like penicillin

Inner Truth

Start, where stories begin, not end
The finish is the ending and I ain’t finished yet
I’m taking it chilled, not thrills
Contemplating what I’m writing and no regret
You’re searching for meaning but ain’t yet seen it
Truth undefined like rhythm without rhyme
Life’s worth living, nothing don’t make it so
Take hope, let it flow, time to show

Reflection, direction, I’m just commencing
Expanding your minds with lines from the divine
Being.. could it be true?
People ain’t lying but are part of God’s crew
Vocab, words, intonation and expression
The pen is flowing lyrical delicatessen
So eat the poetic juices served
I’m a waiter sent with rhymes to serve

So many sounds that speak hopelessness, despair
Untruths, half-truths, to stunt the voice of youth
Saying they speak, unique, in self-defeat
But their words are empty like politician speak
So I’m releasing, re-writing, re-styling
Refining, inspiring, instilling excitement
Unlocking the door to a life less than ordinary
Grabbing the key that says you’re extraordinary

Swallow, digest, inhale and breathe deeply
Dive into the Word, cool and refreshing
The essence of life, contains all the blessings
So start accessing..
So come to God’s house, fill your heart’s desire
Cos living for Christ is designed to inspire
A fire that burns from on higher
Cos we all require the Messiah

Re-commence, re-start, re-form
Turning words into lyrics an artform
A platform to perform – or a platform, to be formed?
Forget the words if your heart is wrong
Examine yourself, a spiritual check-up
be open and honest and don’t let up
Take your pulse and repulse your impulse to be false
Truth is like a sword that cuts you open

Don’t like what you find? It’s time to change
Re-arrange empty lifestyles, it’s been a while
Since you opened the Word and drank deep
S’only then you’ll find the life you seek
Yeh hope can be found in love and in money
You can find it in people and fame
But take it from me it don’t last, it’s funny
But true hope from God ain’t the same

Your emptiness comes from walking away
Filling your mind with empty things, you say…
You can’t find direction, the way to go
But I’m’a show the show that shows
All day every-day, and plays worldwide
All people, all races, all genders, all time
Entry is free but you gotta take the ticket
Accept it and use it and then start to live it

This is the truth, the true hope, the way
The way to speak, to live and to play
Meaning and purpose, healing the hurters
Sharpening focus, develop eternal
Life. Alongside the master in heaven
Go boldly wherever the Kin says (now) go
Be filled with God’s love 24-7
Jesus Is the way, the one way to go

I’m squirmin when you’re rhyming, your whole self is climbin
Up the wall of fame, but you soundin just the same
As a thousand other rappers, just maybe you nastier
Claiming you’re rhymes original, phatter and nastier
But you ain’t read the script bro, rhymes part of antiquity
Stick wiv me, I’ll let you see, using words intelligently
It’s hard for me to see, how you claim originality
When David wrote Psalms better than all our lyrical agility
You ain’t such a cool cat, new cat, when you rap like dat
You say you’re soundin phat, I say you’re soundin wack
You taken crack, taking crack, it ain’t all that
In fact, it’s a trap that you won’t find me in or at
So maybe you a thug, need a hug to feel God’s love
It’s like a drug, you all thugged up, you say you taken slugs
But your life is full of bugs, messed up, like a grave newly dug so it’s time to get love

Everlast said he got more rhymes than the Psalms
Many rappers got rhymes, but their words are causin harm
We hearin bout the problems, bout the world is all messed up
We hearin bout your women, bout that you the nastiest thug
You got words aplenty, but all you sayin is empty
As Talib Kweli say, jus cos you speak don’t mean your words is deep
But it’s more than that bro, man, you’re words have got ta go,
Throw, stuff the dough and get an new flow
Read Psalm 49 man cos David flowin and rhymin
Remindin words defining by the Spirit that’s divine an’
Gives the words I pen, so it’s not the words of men
I ain’t takin no credit, cos with God we all in debit
So don’t claimin and explainin that it’s all about you
Cos it’s God who gives to you, even if you don’t see thru
The fog of spiritual blindness and unkindness that defies this
Gotta rise above dis, like a climber climbing Everest
You writing ‘bout the streets, and maybe your sound is sweet
But the beat that you wreak bringing havoc to those streets
Yeh you been there and now you’ve found a way out
Thro rapping and expounding, but your sound still ain’t about
Saying nothing new, showing there’s a true way through
From hopelessness, despair, whether you black, white or beaten blue
You jus do the things you do, like colour is a hue,
But why not speak of hope, of how people can make it too

Controversial lyrics, talking ‘bout things you think ain’t been done
But like King Solomon said, there ain’t nothing new under the sun
Thinkin that it’s cool, using your pen as an abusive tool
But you sounding like a fool, is that the best that you can do?
Course it ain’t bro, you got a flow like a Broadway show
But raise the standard man, don’t take lyrics from a can
Cos you can impact the soul, writing lyrics deep when you on a roll
But it’s taking it’s toll, when your words are outta control
I ain’t dissin you man, cos you slick at what you do
You probably better than me man, word up, I know it’s true
But I speak life see, setting enslaved people free
Not slavery that’s physical but captives shackled spiritually
You selling millions of records and I’m selling none
But I’d rather be a poor man, than not have Christ, God’s only Son
See when all is stripped away and you got nothing left to say
You’ll see Jesus is the answer, he’ll lead you in the way

But you caught in a trap, trying to make your way through rap
One day, smack, you’ll feel it crack and find it ain’t all that
So whatever man, dis me if it’s your way
But the truth is I’m concerned for you, so make a change today
Don’t smack your bitch up, mess with guns or drugs or screw up
I love it when you speak up, I love it when you’re straight up
Speakin rhymes, poetic times, it’s like a turbine
Feelin fine, when you firing, now you climbing
Up the wall of hope, sounding dope, a lyrical assault…
…On the can’t do won’t do, attitude that’s untrue
So go set free, your words can go shaping history
Instead of speaking captivity, now you really speaking liberty
Hope rolling off your tongue, speakin things that can be done
Instead of dissin an all your cussin, now your wordz is bringin fun
To the glum, to those undone, those on the run, who need the Son
The Son of God the one called Jesus, the one who frees us, never ever leaves us
Believe dis and achieve this thru linguistics an stylistix
Inspired by words from God, with your faith in the one above
Take the first step, not forwards but back
Back from the violence, back from the attack
The weapons you got are your words and your actions
The factions and reactions no longer sanctioned by those actions
Your words explain that to refrain don’t mean you slammed
Offer signs of peace, bro, cos that what makes you a man

LIFTED ME UP – (My testimony)

Man I used to fight with the soccer hardcore
Feared the early morning police bash up on my door
My life was meaningless, trapped inside my head
Wished I was dead, blood red, nuff said
Trapped in the drugs scene on the wrong side of the law
Come down from those pills blew my head, raw, sore
Tried to find meaning, tried to find truth
But aloof in my youth, uncouth, no proof
Of Divine intervention til that day that cracked my world
Got back from time out, but heard the shout unfurled
My brother was taken, killed while on mission
His commission complete, with mine in remission
A slap on my face, a kick in my gut
Was stuck in a rut, but now time to cut
Cut loose from these chains that held me tight down
Gave my life to Christ, the new sound, light, profound
Yo Jesus stepped down, lifted me and carried me
From a place face down, changed my reality
I was lost in the darkness and needed a light
Then found the love of Christ radiating so bright
Now I worship my King through hip hop with integrity
Not looking for my fame, I ain’t no celebrity..
Still life is a struggle but won’t go back there
Trapped like a fly in a spider’s web and lair
Wanna spread light, peace, Christ with all my life
Wanna pass on knowledge, lock it down and keep it tight
So I write, I emcee, I design and serve my King
While people do they own thing, I’m boxing in Christ’s ring
See when all is said and done and all is stripped away
Y’all see Jesus is the answer an he’ll lead you in the way..

Music (a fun and goofy track to a comical beat!)

As we jump up, skip and move
We make you wanna groove
Groove to the beat now blessing your feet
Like a smile in the face of a girl oh so sweet
Like candy, from a candy store
Like lifting a weight you don’t want any more
Music is worldwide, like wind in the trees
For him and for her, for you and for me
It rocks the world like chocolate’s got flavour
We like to expound the music we savour
Just like the sound when the orchestra’s playing
I love writing music, you know what I’m saying?
The sensation is deep, and I know it’s a gift
To lift and to uplift, we riff and we drift
A musical wave, we praise without thinking
The melodies must flow or I find that I’m sinking

Music it’s filling my mind
Music, it’s heaven-sent rhymes
Music, the sound sublime
Music, so sing it one more time

As the organ drops, my feet keep tapping
Something inside makes my hands start clapping
Sharing the music, roll with the vibe
Inside, outside, you audience, me scribe
Describe with pen, the feelings of men
Women, all people, for now and for then
Uplift, looking upward we reach to the skies
Musical clouds but not knowing why
It shapes emotions, it makes us cry
It lifts our hearts, our souls, and we fly
The peaks, the valleys, the downs but we rally
It’s time to jump up, so don’t dilly dally
To smile again as the music plays
Reminding us all, of far better days
A child-like innocence, long since gone
We want to return by singing along

Music it’s filling my mind
Music, it’s heaven-sent rhymes
Music, the sound sublime
Music, so sing it one more time

I like to express how I feel through sound
Commercial, an anthem, or deep underground
It releases good feelings, a cool happy vibe
So log on, sign on, jump in for the ride
Miss it – miss out, you’ll lose it no doubt
So sing it or shot, inside ot about
About time you danced again with me, you’ll see
‘Bout time you jumped up and felt more free
Free to express your feelings through music
Freedom to chill or totally lose it (don’t abuse it)
Break down, breakdance, break free, take a chance
To breathe once more, the sound of the dancefloor
Let go, let it flow, let it show, don’t you know
The tide of the musical waves on the musical shore
Now do you want some more..?!
