Great name - where did that come from?
The idea came from a clothing range from the seemingly now defunct 'sons not dogs' people who were real helpful to us about the name - for which we thank them!! The name was used because we want to provide youth work resources that are Biblical, that bite and that are real.
Can I submit content?
If you would like to submit content, please let us know by using the contact page if you feel you have good content. All authors are credited with ideas where possible. We want to honour people and God by giving credit where it's due.
Do you do a free newsletter to keep me up-to-date?
Yes we do have one, although currently (Spring 2010) it is not being used extensively.

HTML5 and CSS3
The latest (draft) standards for html and css are gradually appearing. These will make the web a much more interactive and attractive place to visit. However, not every browser has support for these functions. Nevertheless, myfishbites is now making use of CSS3 and HTML5 will also be used in the future. Upgrade your browser to Firefox, Safari, Opera or Internet Explorer 8 if you feel bound to MS.
Typefaces will be used from - http://www.theleagueofmoveabletype.com/
RSS Validation
This site uses RSS and is fully validated.
FEED Click to use /subscribe to the Myfishbites Feed Reader
To make use of myfishbites RSS, you need a 'RSS' or 'Feed' Reader. Some browsers like Safari, Firefox, Opera do this automatically. If you're using another browser, you will need to use a free tool like Free Reader - www.feedreader.com
Browser Functionality
This site has been checked and is functional in IE 5, 6, 7 and 8 for PC. This also works under Mac OSX using Safari, Mozilla Firefox and Opera.
PNG Images - Internet Explorer 5 and 6 do not display PNG files properly, due to the inept way the browser works. We've tried to address this issue, but if you are running IE5 or IE6, please upgrade to the latest version of the browser, or use Firefox as a matter of urgency.
If the problem persists then please contact the webmaster stating when you used the site, which browser you were using the exact version if you can. You get this info from the top menu of the browser menu (eg. Safari > About Safari) or on the PC it's found under the top 'help' menu.
Screen Resolution
This site is designed to be used on 17-19" monitors (minimum).
Your other needs for full use of this site
If you want to make the most of this site then you will need to have the following items:
Adobe Reader (to read pdf files)
Microsoft Word (or other programme that can read doc files)
Microsoft Powerpoint may be helpful (or Powerpoint viewer - PC only)
Coding used on this site
This site has been updated to make use of code called 'php' which is a 'server side' code used on some web pages. On the old website there was a code used called 'html'. However, when we needed to update a section we had to update the code on each page which was inefficient. We also use xhtml.
PHP means that now the page menus are 'called into' the page you see from a separate file. 'Server side' means that a PHP sits on the server that hosts this website and when you visit a page on it, the page accesses the PHP page sitting on the server. When you see the page you would not know this but it's very helpful for us to update and develop.
For more on PHP go visit these 2 sites - www.php.net and www.phpfreaks.com
Javascript and JQuery is also used on the site - a clever code that does clever things! This makes the menu rollover effects and helps us keep the site easy to maintain.
Apple Mac
Proudly created using an iMac - why not consider making the change
Other Software and technology used
The site has been developed using Adobe Creative Suite Premium. The website uses www.godsweb.co.uk as the host, great features at unparalleled prices. They've been a helpful, reliable and excellent Christian company to deal with - highly recommended.
I also used the free code from http://www.mways.co.uk/prog/hidemail.php
WAP and PDA
This site is not fully compatible with WAP (mobile phones) and PDAs at the moment. However, the new myfishbites site has a clean and uncluttered interface which should help download times.
Disability
We hope that this site is easy to navigate and use. We have made every effort to re-design the site to make it more easy to read than before where it was white text on a bluey background. We have also made Verdana the main typeface as it is a little larger and clearer than Arial. We hope this has helped. At the moment there are no plans to make this site accessible directly by speech enabled software.
If you have a Mac it is possible to get the Mac to speak a limited amount of text by going to System Preferences > Speech and using the options there. Mac OSX includes 'VoiceOver' for free - making the operating system friendly for those with visual impairment. Click here for more info about that...
Search Engine
The search facility is provided free of charge by freefind.com and you should type in a word that you are looking for and it will bring up pages containing that word or theme, if contained in the site.
